THE SIPHON GALLERY

As we progress along the paths beams of light reach out to reveal natural wonders each more magical than the last.

The Siphon Gallery displays a marvel of nature that is unique in Europe : thousands of very fine, tubular stalactites (diameter 4 mm), some up to 3 m in length and made of calcium crystals (calcite) !

The specialists call these stalactites "soda straws", they are sparkling white and are reflected in the water like in a mirror.

Sadly we have to turn around and leave this gallery, beyond which lie 30 km of caves that are accessible to potholers only.

It has been
established that since
the Cave was

have lengthened
by about 5 cm.
